Parineeti Chopra slams Indian media for spreading fear through fake news

Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra has strongly criticised sections of the Indian media for spreading fake news and inciting public fear amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

In a statement shared via her Instagram story, Chopra highlighted the dangers of misinformation during sensitive times, calling on media houses to act responsibly.

“The most harmful thing right now is the spread of unverified and misleading information,” she wrote.

“It is creating fear and uncertainty among the public.” Chopra urged citizens to rely only on official sources and advised journalists to report with accuracy and accountability.

Her remarks come as Indian media faces increasing scrutiny for its role in amplifying anti-Pakistan propaganda and dramatising news coverage of recent military developments.

The wave of criticism is no longer limited to the public; prominent Indian celebrities are now also voicing their concerns.

Earlier, actress Sonakshi Sinha also questioned the conduct of Indian news channels.

In her statement, she condemned the sensationalism and loud, exaggerated coverage that, in her words, “has turned news channels into a joke.” She urged the media to “stop creating panic” and “only show the truth.”

Sinha added, “What is even happening? Media professionals must do their job the right way. Don’t make war a spectacle.”
