Prince William has tragically lost a friend to a sudden accident.

Indian billionaire Sunjay Kapur, 53, who was the chairman of car parts giant Sona Comstar, has died after swallowing a bee during a polo match.

Kapur collapsed after swallowing the bee, which is understood to have bitten the inside of his mouth. The bite likely led to anaphylactic shock, which can make the heart stop beating.

Hours before his death, Kapur took to social media to pay his respects to those who died in the Air India tragedy.

“Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour,” he wrote in his final post.

Regarding anaphylactic shock, The Mayo Clinic explains: “Anaphylaxis causes the immune system to release a flood of chemicals that can cause you to go into shock — blood pressure drops suddenly and the airways narrow, blocking breathing.”

“Signs and symptoms include a rapid, weak pulse; a skin rash; and nausea and vomiting. Common triggers include certain foods, some medications, insect venom and latex.”

Kapur was known for his love of polo and his marriages. The billionaire was previously married to Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, who accused him of domestic violence, noting that he left her alone to take care of their four month old son who was sick.

Kapoor said: “(Sunjay) decided to carry on, leaving me behind to take care of our sick four-month-old son, just to play a Polo match with Prince William.”

“I also realised that he had married me only because I was a famous and successful film star, which would facilitate him to be reported in the press. It came as a surprise that he always wanted to be known in public and be famous, but since he never did any deed worth mentioning, he was not able to garner any attention,” she alleged.

Kapur’s marriage to Karisma ended in divorce in 2016.
