King Charles invites family member to Christmas against William’s wish

King Charles and Queen Camilla will possibly be joined by a family member for the first time at their traditional Christmas celebration at Sandringham Castle.

However, Prince William is unlikely to be happy about the addition to the gathering given his grievances.

Camilla’s son Tom Parker Bowles revealed that he intends to attend the first ever royal family Christmas. However, he has not yet confirmed his presence officially.

The British food writer and critic, 49, told The Telegraph that his mother has expressed her wishes to spend the festive occasion with him.

“My mum said, ‘I’d love you to come, I haven’t had Christmas with you for a long time,’” Tom told the outlet.

Tom and his family, which includes ex-wife and their two children, Lola, 17, and Frederick, 14, are already making plans for the upcoming occasion.

“For the past 15 years, it has been: I go back to my ex-wife’s house, sit in my tracksuit bottoms, go to the pub while the beef’s in, then try to get my children to watch The Wild Geese. Classic,” he shared. “So, this would be a bit different.”

Tom admitted that he has been invited for previous years as well but this year the Queen was persistent given the health woes of this year.

“It has been a hell of a two years for them,” he said, referring to the King’s cancer diagnosis and his mother’s recent bout with pneumonia. “The older you get, the more conscious you become of mortality, especially with illnesses and the rest of it.”

Prince William, who is known to be put off by his ‘suspicious’ step-sibling, reportedly has no plans to set foot at the Christmas celebrations if Tom is present.

Palace sources previously revealed that “it is best to avoid mentioning Tom around William” as the future king “hates” him.

Royal courtiers believe if the blended families were to attend the festive occasion at the Scottish palace, it will be a tricky situation to manage the tensions.

The insiders also stated that William doesn’t much like Camilla, despite having made peace with his father’s choices, and is made nervous by Tom’s somewhat louche lifestyle as a Mayfair bon vivant.”
